How does COVID-19 spread?

COVID-19 is primarily transmitted from an infected person to another through respiratory droplets. The closer and longer someone is in contact with an infected person – regardless if the infected person has developed symptoms or not – the more likely it is to catch the COVID-19 virus from the infected person.

The COVID-19 virus can also survive on objects and surfaces for several days. If someone comes in contact with contaminated objects or surfaces, it is possible to catch the virus from there.
