Routine health screening of employees

The frequent and continuous health screening of all employees can significantly reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection at work places.

The following steps must be followed by all tourism companies at all work places:

  • Implement a strict system of screening employees and explain it to all employees in detail.
  • Take the temperature of every employee entering the work place or ahead of starting any work or services.
  • Use only non-contact thermometers, infrared or thermal scanner, to conduct temperature checks in a safe manner.
  • Ask employees if any of the following symptoms are present: dry cough, tiredness, aches and pains, nasal congestion, sore throat, or diarrhoea.
  • Conduct repeated daily temperature checks for all employees. It is recommended to conduct at least 3 checks: Beginning of the shift, middle of the shift, end of the shift.
  • Record the results in anonymized forms only accessible to dedicated management staff.
  • Ask employees returning from leave or business travel about their recent travel history and keep in mind that employees returning from high-risk areas might show symptoms of infection within 14 days after their return.
  • If you have a high number of employees arriving at the same time to work, you should set up a procedure and screening area ensuring the maintenance of 1.5-metres distance between people during the screening.
